What is a crown?
A crown is a special cover made of metal or porcelain (or both) that is placed over a damaged or heavily soiled tooth. The crown is made of one piece and provides more strength and protection to the tooth or grinding wheel under the crown. Your dentist ensures that the crown matches the shape and color of your own tooth. This means that it remains as a natural whole and fits well in the mouth.
The initial cost may seem expensive, but the crowns are very durable, which makes the final cost low. Crowns can be expected to last at least ten years, but often a lifetime. Of course, crowns can become loose or break, but these are exceptional cases.
Why a crown?

There are several reasons for using a crown:
• Tooth decay; A tooth is so damaged by decay that it is impossible to restore with normal fillings
• Cosmetics; Large fillings, especially old ones, can become discolored and look unsightly.

Bridges
A bridge is one of the ways to replace a missing tooth. A bridge (made up of a
artificial tooth and two crowns) is anchored to one or two adjacent natural teeth. The bridge covers the empty space where the tooth is missing. The bridge is fixed with cement and cannot be removed by yourself.
